Lead IoT Network Engineer

The Job

  • Network Infrastructure Management:

    • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of LoRaWAN networks for large-scale IoT deployments in developing countries.

    • Serve as the company’s expert on other network technologies, such as NB-IoT and GPRS, ensuring comprehensive network solutions for various IoT devices.

    • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and continuously optimize the infrastructure for reliability and scalability.

  • Data Projects:

    • Oversee data acquisition procedures, ensuring effective and accurate collection of sensor data from IoT devices across different networks.

    • Manage data engineering tasks, including data cleaning, trend analysis, and basic preprocessing to support further analysis and decision-making.

    • Be interested in data science topics such as machine learning (ML) and AI projects, to extract value from the gathered Data. 

  • Project Management & NRW Expertise:

    • Lead and coordinate Non-Revenue Water (NRW) projects, with a focus on leveraging IoT networks to improve water management and reduce inefficiencies. 

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery, from conceptualization to implementation.

    • Expertise in water management is a plus, especially in the context of IoT-driven solutions for NRW.

  • R&D liaison:

    • Help Retrieve and organize R&D resources to create a coherent report on all R&D activities. 

    • Help Shape the scope of technical activities during the year to best align with a coherent R&D strategy.

    • Help oversee the writing of R&d activity reports.

The Requirements

Your profile:

  • Advanced knowledge of NB IoT and GPRS technologies.

  • Experience in network design, deployment, and troubleshooting for IoT systems.

  • PhD or Network engineering degree with equivalent experience in a relevant field, with a focus on LPWAN networks and IoT technologies (LoRaWan in particular). or equivalent industry experience

  • Proficiency in data acquisition collection and engineering, with a good understanding of data structures and trends.

  • Strong command of English and French, including in writing.

  • Scientific and technical writing capacities to help shape and justify our R&D activities

Nice-to-Have:

  • Basic knowledge of machine learning and AI is desirable, with opportunities to further develop these skills on the job.

  • Experience in project management, particularly in water management (NRW) or other IoT-related fields, is a plus.

  • Knowledge of any additional language is a plus (Spanish, Swahili, Arabic, Wolof, etc.)
